Welcome to my website. I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit the site and to examine my research, teaching, outreach and administrative activities. Although the links to the bio-sketch, curriculum vitae, photo galleries and travel summaries give detail perspectives of all the activities, I would like to inform visitors to the website that my research continues to be pivoted on sustainability and sustainable development of the emerging nations of the world especially the countries of Africa. I have continued to pay particular attention to the expansion of the discussion on environmental principles. The field work and investigations which I conduct within the United States and outside of the United States inform my teaching and lectures on the principles of environmental policy. My writings and edited works attempt to shed some light on the following principles: the environmental development principle, prevention principle, precautionary principle, the polluter pays principle and the proximity principle.

I must take this opportunity to ask you to examine the articles in the Journal of Sustainable Development in Africa (JSDA) which has interesting and thought provoking articles on Africa’s development concerns.

Thank you for spending some of your valuable time at this website.

Sincerely Yours,

Valentine U. James
